In the first entry of 2024, we reflected on the significant events that we embarked on in 2023. We also asked God to continue to send more young people to us. Indeed He is faithful and continues to answer our prayers.
The young adults’ fellowship grew organically with members inviting their friends. We also witnessed our first TB wedding, with Bryan and Jordan exchanging vows in October. The attendances at the After-school and Academic Guidance Programs hosted by TAVA have improved significantly.
We are even more delighted that through the revamp of TAVA’s social media initiatives, our youth were able to integrate with the TAVA community. It’s a joy to see them work and laugh together as they produced entertaining content.
This is one of the many instances which typifies the fruit we see in 2024– blurring the lines. Our work at Bukit Batok is no longer a project but an integral part of TB. The people we set out wanting to help, have blessed us richly. They are our friends and, in some cases, as close as family. We are one community.
Beacon’s Got Talent is a band formed for TAVA’s official opening in 2025. It consists of kids who are part of the TAVA community. They were nervous performing in front of Minister Desmond Lee and MOS Murali. Guided by Teacher Lycia, they conquered their nerves and did so well that they received invitations to perform at the Bukit Batok Constituency Christmas Party and at other grassroots events. Our kids now represent TAVA at such events alongside our staff team.
There were truly many stars at our Christmas Party – BE A STAR! There were two troupes of dancers, one made up of teens and tweens from TAVA and the other seniors in their 70s led by Boon Hoe and Jenny. There were also many performances by TB’s members and BB residents. We are grateful for each and every person who served, especially to the committee who put the whole show together! We know that the love of God, the star of Christmas, was experienced by all who were there.
For 2025, I’m still asking God to send more young people, especially the broken and hurting. We have a body of matured Christians who are ready to love and help them heal. I also ask that God raises us a beacon for a movement that will sweep across our nation and beyond – to blur the lines between the ones who help versus the ones who need help. We need to recognise that every life is precious to our Father and each person is uniquely made with something special to contribute. We pray for this body to continue to grow in unity, diversity and love.
Blessings,
Ps Ben
