This week, what struck me was the verse in Ephesians 4: “Unity of the Spirit”. As the Christmas committee put their thinking cap together to come up with performance items for the year-end Christmas Party, we boldly took on the challenge to put together a dance with the BB residents. When God impressed upon B’s heart to do it, it happened on the Saturday when Pastor Angela was sharing on “Reckless Obedience”. Uncle M (82 years old) truly displayed that age is just a number. Without thinking twice, he immediately agreed. It was heartwarming to see that he was more enthusiastic than any of us. Two days later, he connected us with a dance choreographer and even sent us a video how to put the dance together. On Thursday when Team A walked the block, they embarked on the task to invite residents to participate in the Christmas Dance item. They were apprehensive at first, not sure what to expect. But the response was amazingly good. A handful residents from Team A floor indicated their interest in joining our dance video. Not sure how the dance will turn out, but with “Unity of the Spirit” and “Reckless Obedience”, we can be sure it is something to look forward to.
Last Sat HF was a combined one with Jacob’s Well, Diakonia and Belimbing. With 3 HF coming together under one roof, the fellowship was filled with vibrancy. It came to our awareness that R’s family would be relocating to overseas this coming week. We prayed for them and look forward to seeing them again whether in Malaysia or in Singapore!
Robbie led the discussion on Genesis 30 to 32. An interesting discussion where he talked about home orientation (Jacob going back to land to Canaan). Do we have a home orientation that is in heaven? We also seeing Laban being blessed as Jacob is blessed. God's blessing will overflow to the people around us as well. Even though Laban is not a believer of God, he attributed his blessing to be from Jacob's God. Nicky Gumbel said our belief in God should make the non-believers question their unbelief. It made me think: am I blessing the people around me who have yet to know God?
Overall, it has been a heartwarming week as we see the folks of TB coming together to do ministry and HF. The unity of the Spirit kept us together as we run the race, not just within TB folks but with the residents at BB also. We spur one another on and as different parts of the body come together, we pray that God’s glory will be magnified.
Have a blessed week ahead.
