Week 2 (8 - 14 Jan): The Good News and ... Sales?

As we move into the second week of the year, God is already equipping us to bring the good news to the people around us, and preparing their hearts to receive it.

John 1:9-11 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

We started on the book of John in our weekly Tuesday Love Letters sessions. We focused on the divinity of Jesus, as explored in the Chapter 1 of John. His love for us is the foundation on which we build our relationship with Him. The security and love He gives us should make us want to tell others about Him, so that they too can experience Him!

On Saturday, Ps Ben shared on how we can effectively bring the message of Christ to the people around us like a salesperson. Personally, the idea of being a salesperson is off-putting as I have experienced pushy sales people, trying to sell me something that I don’t need for their own gain, often using manipulative and aggressive strategies to seal the deal.

A good salesperson understands the need and creates the want for their products because it genuinely helps their clients. When the people around us look at our lives, do they feel a desire to know Jesus themselves? The sincerity and heart of the salesperson matters. Ps Ben spoke about how it's important to be vulnerable when sharing with others. Being real allows others to know the true story of how Jesus encountered us! We don't have to embellish anything in our story, but emphasising on how we've transformed after our encounter with Him is essential for an effective testimony.

The ultimate purpose of our lives on Earth is to know God and make Him known. May we always be ready to testify to everyone God brings along our paths. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

Signing off,

Alvin (on behalf of RT1)
