Week 22 (5 Dec - 10 Dec): Unity in the Body of Christ

Dear TB Family,

We have begun to approach the year-end Christmas season! It is always a joyous time, celebrated by many throughout the world, across different cultures and countries. For us at Talent Beacon, it marks a particular highlight in our calendar of events — our Christmas party, Be A Star, which was held last Saturday.

Every year, we look forward to the culmination of weeks of planning, invitations, preparation and most importantly, prayers for God’s help and direction. Can you believe that we are into our 9th party this year? Amazingly, God brings more guests, more talents and more resources every time. On Saturday, we had guests from Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia — even guests from the UK who joined us on Zoom.

We were also blessed by kind contributors who sponsored our games booth prizes. We're happy to share that Belimbing HF enjoyed ourselves tremendously while serving alongside the other HFs. We thank God that R, H & J were able to return from Penang on time to attend the party; we are even more grateful that they could invite their sister and brother in law to join us as guests. What began as a small cozy party in one of the flats in BB has grown into a gathering held in the city area, which everyone from all corners of Singapore (and the world) get to partake in and enjoy! Indeed, God will meet our needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

The most salient feature of the Christmas party is not simply the amazing time we all have. Rather, it is how Be A Star exemplifies the underlying principle of Talent Beacon's guiding light. It is taken from Ephesians 4:16. For those of us who are curious, you can read more about our vision on our website (click here).

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16)

Every year, every Talent Beacon member is involved in using their gifts and talents in the organisation and execution of the party. From designing and manning game booths to setting up decorations, ushering and serving our guests, performing, ensuring smooth audio and visuals or contributing to the preliminary stages of preparation, every limb of Talent Beacon plays their part.

As dinner, performances and prize giving drew to a close, Ps Ben's sharing drew us back to the central focus of our party — to provide guiding light to our community. Just as the wise men followed the Star of Bethlehem to find newborn Jesus (Matthew 2:1-12), the answer to years of Messianic prophecies, we too can be the "Star" that leads others to hope and salvation.

As we bear witness to God's hand working alongside us, making sure that everything is in its rightful place at the perfect time, we too grow in love. The joy and satisfaction of watching our guests (especially pre-believers) experience the love that we put into Be A Star is truly beyond words. We look forward with anticipation to what God has in store for us with our future Christmas parties!

Signing off,

Eng Siong
