Last week was the first ever Talent Beacon Leaders’ Retreat where the Home Fellowship leaders spent 3 days engaged in a time of refreshing and receiving of new knowledge, skills and revelations. We had an amazing time of fellowship where bonds were strengthened and intentions forged.
The speakers, comprising Pastor Alfred, Dr Caroline Lim, Prof Cheong Hee Kiat and Prof Robbie, provided key insights into our spiritual health, corporate and kingdom leadership, as well as organisation development.
A key takeaway for us was from Dr Robbie’s sharing on Christ-centred Leadership. It was interesting how most of our reflections were around Intentionality. In fact, Prof Robbie’s take on intentionality gave us all an “ah ha!” moment: Intentionality is the only real driving force for relationships in a world where everything hinges on feelings which are fleeting. Indeed when we are intentional in life with time, inner circle, friendships, vocation to name a few, there is no end point. Very much like the saying that love is a choice not a feeling. We choose love, not just “even if”, but “especially when” it gets hard. Love your enemies anyone?
Finally, on our last night, Pastor Ben walked us through Talent Beacon’s Vision of ‘Every Home a Church’ and our guiding light: Ephesians 4:11-13. He challenged us to expand our definition of family beyond biological ties. Talent Beacon should be a family for anyone who comes seeking community and Christ. We also had a time of wonderful worship with His presence so keenly felt, as one by one our leaders shared visions and words of knowledge that the Lord showed them for the church. It was also amazing that at the same time, Sheryl and the youth led worship and home fellowships continued!
The Leaders’ Retreat, the first of many, was filled with so many other learnings and revelations for everyone that if I were to record them one by one, this journal entry could not contain all that would be written. And with that, I hope this leaves you yearning for more as it did for us. Stay tuned for what’s coming up in 2025 for Talent Beacon Fellowship!

Blessings,
Gladys
