This week’s reflections have been centered around the themes of love, service and humility, reminding us of the deep connections we share within the body of Christ.
We were encouraged by the young adults gearing up for their trip to Chilly Land next week. Pastor Darren prayed over the team, imparting two significant words: "Reach" and "Impressions." These words are meant to guide and inspire the team as they embark on their journey.
As we gathered on Saturday evening, our time was filled with joy and gratitude as we celebrated the gift of community. We shared stories from our week, rejoicing in each other's lives, and culminating in a special celebration for all those with August birthdays. Among them, we were particularly blessed to celebrate Tony's birthday on his return from the UK with family — truly divine timing!
The presence and love of God was palpable as we transitioned into a time of worship, lifting our voices in unity with songs. It was a powerful reminder of our purpose and dedication to living for Christ, as we felt His Spirit moving among us.
Pastor Ben revisited and expanded upon the key terms related to the praise and worship message that he shared last month, deepening our understanding of these practices.
In this week’s message, Pastor Ben focused on Jesus' greatest commandment from John 15:12-13: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” He emphasized the humbling experiences that come with truly understanding God’s love for us, such as the act of washing the feet of our brothers and sisters, as described in John 13:32-38.
Pastor Ben humbly acknowledged that this message was as much for himself as for the congregation. He reminded us of the importance of withholding judgment and instead loving others deeply, as instructed in 1 Peter 4:8-11. Love, he noted, should act as a veil over the sins of others, allowing us to form genuine connections before seeking to influence change.
We were encouraged to use our gifts to serve others, recognizing that even the smallest acts of service, like offering our time, are significant to others and valuable in God’s eyes. Pastor Ben also urged us to value and celebrate one another, just as Jesus celebrates us. If we cannot celebrate others' victories, we may struggle to truly appreciate our own.
In closing, Pastor Ben acknowledged that while serving can be tiring, it ultimately brings glory to God. Let us continue to serve faithfully, love one another and always aiming to glorify God in all that we do.
With Love,
Belimbing
