Last week, we celebrated the opening of TAVA and had two distinguished Guests of Honour to grace the occasion. Next week, we would be having an appreciation dinner for our ministers at BB outreach and Academic Guidance.
This year marks the 10th year since we started walking the floors for 210a in 2014. At our onsite service two days ago, Prof Robbie Goh preached a message titled “How Great is Our God”. What an apt message at an apt timing! It is divinely centred nicely between two occasions where we come together to give thanks and celebrate the goodness and greatness of God.
As I chewed on the message title, I was contemplating for a moment whether it should end with a '!' or '?'. Prof Robbie delivered the difficult message in a simple way. It is a difficult message because the greatness of God is beyond our comprehension and imagination and it will always be a struggle for us Christians to fully grasp it. Yet, he delivered the message using simple analogies that helped us in bridging the gap to appreciate this greatness. Knowing how great our God is is important as it can affect our prayer and other aspects of our walk with God.
One analogy he used was that of an ant crawling on the table, moving from one end to the other. It resonated with me because that was something I liked to do when I was a kid. The ant is so small compared to the sheer size of a human. We can see where it comes from and where it is heading to. We can put a drop of water in front of it, and to the ant, it would be like a flood. If there was a container to trap it, it would be going round and round. God knows our past, present and future. God knows where we heading, not because He controls it with a tight grip, but because He can see all the choices we will make. God gives us free will to choose and He knows what we are going to choose. God is outside time.
We can remember the past but we cannot go back. God can. We do not know our future that lies ahead, but God knows.
Thank God for bringing Talent Beacon to where it is today. Reflecting on his goodness and His greatness in the past, I am sure what lies ahead will be even more magnificent. How great is our God!
Blessings,
