Hello October!
We are officially entering into the last quarter of the year. This week's message “How Great is Your Expectation!” is so relevant. Do we expect to end the last quarter of the year with a bang or with no expectation at all?
Ps Darren shared an insightful message on God’s greatness. The message serves as a reminder that we have a Great God to journey with us in our lives. Ps Darren started by saying that in any journey that we embark on, there must be an expectation, otherwise we move aimlessly. These are valuable takeaways from Ps Darren's message :
1. When we serve a great God who desires to give and love abundantly, we can have great expectations. Don’t settle for less when God can do more.
2. Our expectations should be rooted in the understanding of God’s greatness, faithfulness and sovereignty. They enable us to advance in God's Kingdom.
3. Ps Darren shared how he was transformed from brokenness at the hospital to a pastor filled with a burning desire for God. He witnessed the power of God at work, and his boldness to put God’s greatness into action propelled him further.
4. We must reject lies that hinder us from expecting. Doubt, fear, anxiety and lack are not from God. Ask and expect to receive! We can be bold to expect because God is Almighty.
5. Our duty as Christians is to direct people to God. In John 1:38, Jesus’s answer to his disciples was an invitation to his disciples to come and see the kingdom.
It was great to hear this message on-site and witness God’s power at work. Towards the end of the service, the 2 teams going for missions had an opportunity to experience great things. We saw healing take place in Jenny’s painful shoulder and Uncle Mok’s faint eye as they prayed. It was Ps Ben who called out these sicknesses, which was a live example of the message we'd just heard. Ps Ben received a word from God and acted on it. He expected things to happen and God showed up! We also had the opportunity as a church to pray for Bryan and Jordan for their wedding, as well as for God's anointing to be with the 2 mission teams.
Lastly we give thanks for the gift of community. The joyous vibe over food and fellowship always warms my heart. Ps Angela joined us on Saturday evening too. I close this journal with this verse from Mark 11:24:
“For this reason I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you.” Mark 11:24
I pray that we will always fix our gaze on the power of the cross, and may we sail into this last quarter of the year with great and daring expectations and boldness of faith. Our God is almighty, the Great I Am!
Blessings
