It was wonderful to have Pastor Angela Soh back for our Saturday onsite service, where she delivered a powerful message and shared prophetic words of knowledge.
She started her message by opening up about her recent struggle with sleeplessness. I can relate to this as I also have sleepless nights, waking as early as 3 o r4 am with a mind clouded by worries, anxieties, uncertainties and challenges. These thoughts disturb our peace and agitate our souls.
I'm thankful that Pastor Angela highlighted Psalm 4:8: In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. We are reminded that we can rest and have peace when we lie down to sleep, because our safety and security are in God's hands. Sometimes, sleepless nights serve a purpose -- perhaps to quiet our minds, to pray for someone in need, or simply to draw us back to the truth that He is our Lord and Savior, and we can trust Him fully and be dependent on Him.
Pastor Angela also shared Isaiah 55:1-13 and encouraged us to not settle, for htere is more. She raised five reasons why we may sometimes settle:
It's too hard, and 2. Problems in the way:
When things get too challenging, with pain or unanswered prayers, it is natural to feel weary or even question the presence of God. Instead of giving up, we are called to stay calm and turn to Him in prayer -- speaking to Him, even in tongues.
What people say:
We often get caught up in others' opinions, but what truly matters is how God sees us. Psalm 139:13 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, crafted by His hands and chosen by His grace. How we perceive God shapes how we see ourselves -- and we are called to let His view of us define our identity.
Comfort zone and 5. Settling for 'Good Enough':
Becoming complacent in our comfort zones can lead to spiritual stagnation. In times of crisis, we must keep following God, just as the Israelites trusted Him during their miraculous escape from slavery in Egypt in Exodus 15. His thoughts are higher than ours, and His plans for us are far greater than we can imagine (Jer 29:11).
Isaiah 55 speaks of hope and gives us assurance that our God is merciful, and His plans are for our good. All we need is to have faith and trust in God’s transformative power. Pastor Angela encouraged us to: seek the Lord; pray and speak with Him; stay connected to Him always and hear His voice; make time to build an intimate relationship with Him by yield to His Spirit and reading the His Word daily.
The service closed with an altar call for those seeking ‘More’. It was encouraging to see the church coming forward and responding, wanting the fullness of God's plan in their lives.
Let’s continue pressing forward, seeking 'More' and refusing to settle for anything less than God’s best for us. So, what is your ‘More’?
Blessings,
IS (on behalf of Jacob's Well)
