We were privileged to welcome Pastor Angela Soh back to Talent Beacon last Saturday. In her message, she shared a personal testimony about a pre-believer she knew who was struggling with anxiety. To encourage him, she gifted him what she termed an “event notebook” and encouraged him to write down what he was grateful for each day, along with a Bible verse.
Over a span of more than a month, the “event notebook” graduated into a diary, then finally a journal filled with testimony to the goodness of God. The story reminded me of the parable of the mustard seed — what we quietly sow can take root and grow into something far beyond our imagination (2 Corinthians 1:9). Jesus has already paid the price of our sins with his death at the cross, and defeated death with his resurrection. It is finished! Nevertheless, we must continue to fight against enemies of our faith; not of human flesh but those of spiritual evil and darkness (Ephesians 6:10-18). It is evident that the enemy has refused to concede defeat. He continues to launch attacks of intimidation and manipulation against us, in hopes that our “fear diverts us towards sin and away from the simplicity of devotion to Christ”. (ref. Bill Johnson)
God has called us to serve. Each of us has been wonderfully made with unique capabilities to wage war on sin. As a recruit in God’s army, we must:
1. Obey his God’s commands because we acknowledge our godly assignment (Joel 2:11)
2. Use prayers to disarm our enemies; for the sick to be healed, to cast out demons.
3. Operate in the unique set of spiritual gifts/talents that he deposited in each believer.
4. Endure hardships of fears, anxiety, or pain. Yet remaining tenaciously faithful to God.
5. Keep the spiritual discipline. Be watchful not to let worldly distractions get to us.
In John 14:12 (TPT), Jesus reaffirms us with these words, “The person who follows me in faith, believing in me, will do the same mighty miracles that I do - even greater miracles than these.”
2024 is to be the year of mobilisation for Talent Beacon’s army. To rise and be “as bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1) in expanding God’s kingdom. Trusting God to lead us and seizing every opportunity in faith, speaking life and blessings over people we meet.
As Senior Pastor Ben leads the charge to reinforce our commitment to God’s army, we too should prepare alongside for the call. For some, the first step is to seek spiritual healing and for others, spiritual housekeeping. It is important that we never do ministry out of fear or for accolades, because it prevents us from releasing the real power for transformation. We must align our hearts with God daily, listening for His voice, His Word and to His appointed leaders. That is how we will become a body in Christ – united in Godly love, ready to charge forward in His direction and at His call. God bless.
