Dear TB family,
The past week was an incredibly blessed and fun-filled week. God's hand has undoubtedly been in the events that have transpired.
On Wednesday, some of us had the opportunity to connect with some friends from SUSS Christian Fellowship. God is certainly moving in our midst; with new doors opening for exciting collaborations.
The youth and young adults also had an exciting games day on Saturday. It was held at Stadium on Saturday. They had a super charged afternoon from all the fun and laughter while playing ‘Tug of war’ and threading through danger-filled ‘land mines'. My daughters expressed that the cohesiveness amongst the youths had already risen to the next level! We praise God for a fun day of bonding for the youth and young adults in TB.
Concurrently, RN zone 7 organised the National Day Carnival at the basketball court near 210A Bukit Batok. TAVA was invited to participate in the event. Our TAVA kids R, J, A and Am displayed so much enthusiasm in manning the booth. It was truly amazing to see them smile so brightly and being so happy.
For our Hougang combined Home Fellowship, we discussed chapters Genesis 22-25. In the family tree of Nahor, Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel, was not high in the hierarchy against the patriarchal setting. But God chose her. The lives of her sons went on to fulfil the prophecy leading to the lineage of Jesus. One may be the youngest, deemed the weakest or a female. But it is God’s ultimate prerogative to call, choose and use anyone.
One of the most memorable chapters that was discussed was Genesis 24. In this chapter, the oldest servant in Abraham's household was tasked to find a wife for Isaac. In v12, he prayed earnestly to the Lord to help him identify the right candidate. Key highlights of his prayer include,
• Begin with a prayer of blessings (v12)
• Pray specifically (v14)
• Ask God for success and confirmation through signs (v12 and v14)
• Wait and trust in God’s perfect timing ( v15)
• Give thanks and praises for fulfilled prayers (v 26, v48, v52)
His prayer showed the great importance of first seeking God’s wisdom before any set task. Making God our priority enables us to better appreciate God’s responses while we rely and wait upon him. For God promises His good plans over all of us (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:28).
In closing, we prayed for complete healing and restoration of health amongst our members and for a fruitful and spirit-led mission trip to Surabaya in September. Do keep the team in prayer as they go forth and spread the gospel. May God's word be accompanied by signs and wonders in their midst.
Signing off,
Jenny (on behalf of Diakonia)
