It has been a long while since I took a picture of the dinner spread at our Home Fellowship, but on Saturday I was in awe of the spread of food from different brothers and sisters. The vibrant colours of the dishes somehow made the food look even more delicious. Hence, I cannot think of a better word to describe this week fellowship other than colour-full. My stomach was full and my heart was even fuller.
The good dinner was only a prelude to what was to come. We continued with our study of "The Way of Life", discussing Chapter 2: "Measuring Heaven". This week's topic is a follow-up to last week's message on "Getting Serious with God". If we are constantly talking of the greatness of God's will on earth as it is in Heaven, then are we serious enough to measure it? If yes, how do we do it?
Y facilitated for the first time and led us to a good and interactive discussion on 'PPC': Power, Purity and Culture. We are thankful that beyond the discussion, God allowed us to experience the Power, the Purity and the Culture of heaven firsthand.
I felt the Power of the holy spirit setting the discussion on fire. Time flew past so fast and before we knew it, we went beyond the usual time. We prayed for H at the end of the session for the breakthrough he was looking for. God's presence was felt as visions and words were further released over him as we took turns to pray.
As we fellowship on a regular basis and study God's words together weekly, we have subconsciously embarked on a journey of sanctification. God is leading us to purity. We are not where God wants us to be yet, but we are not where we used to be. H shared on how God's power helped him to endure hardship when he recently experienced challenges. Without God, he would have behaved differently in the face of the challenges. Therefore, one measure of God's greatness is the transformation it brings within us.
Culture affects our values and principles. What is the culture of heaven like? One brother accurately pointed that a company's culture is determined by the CEO. When the CEO changes, the company culture will somehow change also. If Jesus is the CEO of our lives, then he has to permeate the different aspects of our lives. We should be walking ambassadors of the values and principles of Heaven!
As brothers and sisters from different walks of lives come together to fellowship, the different 'colours' we all bring remind me of God's rainbow, so beautiful and so complete. Indeed, it is a picture of Heaven on earth!
Yours faithfully,
Jacob's Well
